The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field (Mathew9:37).
This scripture is not pointing to world evangelization as theologians has made us to believe, according to the scripture; God’s vineyard or His harvest field is the house of Israel which foreshadows the church…
For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry (Isaiah5:7).
For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field “harvest field”, God's building (1Corintians3:9).
Many believers in the structural church today lack training and true discipleship. Christians need absolute maturity. Multitudes have responded to preaching, but lack spiritual development due to not being taught by kingdom-minded teachers, that is why the Lord asks us to pray that God sends laborers into His harvest field. Our prayers are important because mature teachers are urgently needed in the structural church. We should realize that the church presently is the greatest mission field, without putting the church in order; the Christians cannot make an impact in the world. To put the church in order means to cleanse ourselves from sin so that Christ will form in us and be revealed in our lives. The Lord advises us to witnesses for Him first in Jerusalem, (the church) before spreading further….
What is the purpose of believers going out to preach the word of God, without proper spiritual equipment? We must learn Christ first for ourselves and be rooted and grounded in His word before thinking of winning other people for Him. We must first conquer ourselves before we think about conquering the world for Christ! The early disciples of Jesus Christ were very few in number in the 1st century and changed the course of human history. Now, following the statistics of the worlds religion, there are approximately 2.2 million adherents (33 percent of the earth's population), and the separate Christian groups in the world are estimated at 34,000. Imagine if the number of people who are professed Christians would allow the Holy Spirit to train them properly so that they could fulfill their assignments, I believe that the entire world would be transformed.
To be candid, there is more work to do within the church (ourselves) than outside the church, and it is obvious that most structural churches and mission agencies fail to see this. They give their financial support to the evangelist missionaries who are going out only to reach interior villages, without seeing the need to contribute to those apostolic and prophetic teachers who are traveling from different countries to encourage unity among church leaders and churches. What is most important is the development of kingdom minded leadership and preparing God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up to reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, becoming mature, and attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
