BLIND LEADERS OF THE BLINDS
Blindness: One of the most dangerous illnesses is blindness, which is the condition of lacking visual perception. Naturally speaking, a person who is blind lives in a world full of darkness; he can’t appreciate the beauty of nature in its entirety, and he is exposed to all sorts of accidents while walking alone on the street sitting down or standing in one place which is why every blind person needs a guide. Jesus asked the question, Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?” (Luke6:39). It's a fact that every blind person needs a guide; however, a blind man can't be a guide to another blind man, because both can have an accident that will cost them their lives. A person who is blind needs someone who can see to guide him.
Who Are The Blinds: Most of us with two functional eyes always consider the blinds to be people who've lost their natural sight, however, in reality blindness goes far beyond not seeing with the natural eyes, one can have the ability to see clearly with his physical eyes, but still be blind, Jesus called the scribes and Pharisees “blind leaders of the blind” (Matthew 15:13-14, 23; Luke 6:39, 41) because these people were excellent theologians, scholars, bible teachers and preachers who could see clearly with their physical eyes, but couldn’t perceive things with their spiritual sight. The Sadducees, Pharisees and the Scribes in the 1st century were experts in the bible prophecies, most of them knew exactly where the Messiah (Christ) would be born and the work he would accomplished on earth (Mathew2:1-5) but when the Messiah came, they all missed him because he didn't come exactly the way it's literarily recorded in the bible. The spiritual sight is more important than natural; you can live without physical eyes and still enter into the kingdom of heaven (Mathew18:9) but it’s impossible to live without the internal sight and enter into the kingdom of Heaven. When I was a young boy I visited a village where I heard about an old man, a prophet in Cherubim and Seraphim church, who can’t see with his physical eyes, but the same man could tell you virtually everything about yourself, including your name, your appearance, what you’re wearing, where you come from and what brought you to him. This wasn’t a mere story, it was confirmed that the old man was completely blind in both eyes, and I‘m sure there are still such people today somewhere in this world. We can develop this kind of spiritual ability through separation, serious fasting, prayer, meditation and showing love and compassion to all of God’s creation. The Spirit of God can start to give us information by painting a picture in our minds and allowing us to perceive it through the eyes of our heart.
Blind people include everyone who doesn't know where they're coming from, where they're going to and the way to reach his/her destination (If a person leaves his house and doesn’t know where he's going, that person will never arrive anywhere, he'll just continue to go around in circles). To have eyes means you’re fully aware of where you're coming from, where you're going to, and the way to reach your destination in life. When the Pharisees accused Jesus that He bore witness of Himself and that His record wasn’t true, the Lord answered and said to them;
Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go (John8:14).
The above statement shows that Christ was a revelatory teacher when he was physically on earth; he knew the end from the beginning. Jesus knew where he emanated from spiritually, where he was going back to, and He was the way to reach His final destination (John14:6) while the Pharisees knew nothing about that. Someone who doesn’t have an accurate depiction of his or her divine origin, eternal goal and spiritual direction is totally blind.
The Blind Guides: Jesus labeled the Pharisees “blind leaders of the blind”. As mentioned earlier, the Pharisees were excellent theologians, scholars, bible teachers and preachers during the time of Jesus. The religious leaders in His time had knowledge of the bible, but lacked the accurate revelation of God. They believed that Moses and the prophets had spoken everything concerning God; they didn’t realize that God was still speaking to His children, giving them accurate internal meanings of the written Laws. Blind leaders are people who missed a move of the spirit and are ignorantly sticking to the old order, and people who assume offices of leadership without a vision, revelation or an accurate insight in God’s plan and purpose to mankind. Luke tells about a man called Apollo, an eloquent speaker from Alexandria; He was a learned man with thorough knowledge of the scriptures. Apollo taught about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit, however, he knew only about John’s baptism (old move of the spirit). When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained THE WAY OF GOD more accurately, and when Apollo received the true light of God in his heart, he started afresh to preach an accurate inner revelation of Jesus Christ, instead of the letter doctrines of Christ (Act18:24-28).
It’s easy to preach and teach about the historical Jesus Christ of the bible, Holy Ghost water baptisms, tithes and offerings, faith to receive God’s financial blessings, repentance and restitution, doctrine of hell, etc; but it's difficult to cultivate a fasting, prayer, study and deep meditation lifestyle, in order to discern accurately the spiritual PATH OF GOD and to journey on it carrying other disciples along. God’s internal path can’t be discovered by merely reading Christian religious literature or cramming bible verses. You must pass through the process of God or have a serious wilderness experience with His Spirit. No one can proclaim God’s eternal truth (the everlasting gospel-Revelation14:6), without a divine revelation; it's not a matter of quoting the King James Version of the bible or NIV. The apostles and prophets of old who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice and gained what was promised, who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies (Hebrew11:33-34) were all spiritual men with a divine insight and not theologians. They lived their lives based on what their internal eyes perceived not by any religious organizational church doctrine. For instance, Enoch spiritually perceived immortality and pursued it with great sacrifice until he was translated without experiencing a physical death (Genesis5:24, Hebrews11:5). Abraham and Sarah throughout their lifetime pursued a spiritual city they perceived with their internal eyes, the city hath foundations, and it’s builder and maker is God (Hebrew11:10). When you study the writing of Paul in 2 Corinthians: 5, you’ll understand the city that Abraham and his wife were hoping to reach during their lifetime was to achieve immortality of the total man. When Christ was physically here on earth, He didn’t do anything on His own; He brought down into physical manifestation only what He saw the Father do in the heavenly realm(John5:19). If you claim that you’re a spiritual leader when you have no profound specific and accurate revelation of Christ and his character you’re a blind leader of the blind.
oftentimes Christians mistake the Heavenly vision with an earthly imagination or mere mental picture, and that’s the main reason why many Pastors start out very hot but end very cool or lukewarm. It’s good to know that the vision mentioned in (proverb29:18) the heavenly vision is different from that big church organization or Christian college you want to establish worldwide, it’s also different from that clear picture of the business that you want to set up to support “God’s work”, or the charity organization you have in mind to establish, etc. All of these are good dreams and imaginations, which can be created through the natural power of our minds; you don’t have to be a Christian to have good plans and ideas. Anyone can have big dreams or clear plans of achieving something great in this world, however the vision that the word of God is referring to as the heavenly vision is the revelation of God concerning our eternity with Him. A person will have no true vision until he has set an eternal goal in Christ, and that spiritual target is to attain sinlessness and immortality of the physical body (Romans8:7). We are to exit gradually with sacrifice from our sin nature to arrive into the sinless nature of God, unto permanent perfection and immortality of our earthly body fixing our whole attention on Jesus Christ, which is exactly what Paul the apostle regarded as a high calling of God in Christ Jesus, and that’s the vision every true Christian should run with; spiritually we must clearly perceive Jesus Christ and constantly pursue to become like him. Paul wasn’t pursuing theological degrees, or to establish his international ministries, neither did Paul consider any other thing as his vision; he set all of his heart after holiness, sinlessness and immortalization of the total man (Philippians3:16). People who’ve perceived the inward journey of perfection in Christ and focus on it will never become cool or lukewarm in their spiritual life, because each day the Holy Spirit will spiritually open their internal eyes to let them see that they’ve never “arrived”, and are still in need of deeper separation and purification of their heart. As we pursue inward and outward purity, we’ll see ourselves as new beginners each day, but those who pursue external services as their vision without considering the inner life of Christ won’t go far spiritually, their hotness will last for but a moment, as soon as they succeed to establish their religious structures, their fire will burn out.
If you know a preacher who’s talking about “retiring from God’s service”, or a minister who was very powerful and devoted to holy living when he was young, but when he established big religious structures(a.k.a. “ministries”), the passion for righteousness disappeared, that person was chasing after the dream of his mind and when he caught it, he relaxed thinking that he reached the climax. This is exactly what has happened to most of the present day bishops who are now living in their past glory. When they began, their vision was to build the largest denominational church, own television and radio stations and so forth, now that they’ve achieved their soulish imaginations they no longer know what to do, their zeal and passion for spiritual growth has gone, they’re now too big to reach people in the rural areas of the world and even to pray warfare prayers is no longer necessary because they believe that they’ve entered fully into their rest. They’re now called “papa” by their blind followers who gather around them, and all they do is sit in one place in the city and continue to expand their religious kingdoms by sending out young preachers using them to start branches of their churches and ministries across the globe with the expectation of collecting tithes and offerings using the words, “my sons and daughters in the ministry.” Most great preachers today can’t seriously fast and pray because they believe that they’ve achieved their vision and they lack nothing, not realizing that they’re wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked (Revelation3:17-18). There is no complete rest until we cross over into immortality.
Blind Guides Know Nothing About Discipleship: A visionless or blind church leader will only produce multitudes, not disciples. As we can see around us, the organizational churches today are no better than social clubs. Christians, (especially the leaders) need to see the eternal vision as recorded in the scripture because the blind can’t lead the blind…Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?” (Luke6:39). This scripture teaches us that without a perfect revelation of Jesus and a clear view of eternity it’ll be difficult for us to lead souls into everlasting righteousness. When a minister fails to see the goal that’s divinely set before him, he’ll end up playing religion to mask his shortcomings. Most Christians today live in sin yet profess they belong to God, even preachers tell lies in the pulpit yet their conscience doesn’t judge them because they lack vision. Prophetically, one can see that the structural church today is like a dungeon, a spiritual prison! Since most of our leaders lack true vision, people continue to gather around them without attaining spiritual maturity. The majority of Christians today aim to become like their pastors instead of becoming like Christ, and this is simply because all that the people have been able to see so far is their pastor who has positioned himself in the center of the church as God’s standard or the ultimate oracle…
Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering (Luke11:52).
When leaders are short sighted and fail to advance spiritually, their followers will never be allowed to see beyond them. If the followers dare claim to see spiritually what the leaders haven’t seen or experienced, the leader will declare the person an antichrist and raise persecution against him, and that‘s the main reason why it’s not good to follow men, the children of God must fix their eyes on Jesus Christ not on men(Hebrews12:1-2). If your focus is on man, your life will be full of disappointment, hurt and bitterness, but as you pursue holiness and continue looking unto God, your life will be transformed daily. Those who look to God are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame (Psalm34:5). It’ll be impossible for those who are looking unto God to become fixed and static in one revelation of God like the organizational Christians. God is new every morning, and every day we must see something new in Him that we have never seen since the day that we were created. It’s the spiritual image and likeness of Christ that our internal eyes perceive that changes our physical personality, not bible stories; believers should be encouraged to see Christ and establish a personal relationship with Him.
Blind Guides Have No Revelation of God’s Present Temple: The Blind guides will never let their blind followers fully comprehend that they’re Gods temple (1Cor 3:16-17). We are God's temple, God has chosen to dwell in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. The outer court, Holy place and the Holy of Holies of the Old Testament tabernacle represents our spirit, soul and body. You don’t need to be registered with any Christian denominational group or attend Christian religious cathedrals each Sunday to be a Christian. For men to achieve total conformity to the image of God, the people must shift their mind from focusing on the physical cathedral to perceive the heavenly realities that God has imparted in us through Jesus Christ. When Jesus was physically here on earth, He was the ultimate throne of God or the spiritual tabernacle of the Most High….
(For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell. (Colossians1:19) For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians2:9).
God wants to enthrone in us the same way he mounted His heavenly throne in Christ. God has come down from heaven to tabernacle in us so that His Spirit can gradually cleanse us until we reach sinless perfection and translate to immortality. Him choosing to dwell in our hearts through the Holy Spirit means that all of those cleansing rituals that were transpiring inside of the Old Testament temple should be transpiring IN OUR HEARTS on a daily basis; we’re to purify ourselves from everything that defiles body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God (2Cor7:1). If each individual Christian would actually comprehend the truth that we’re representing God on earth, that the most high God is living in us, we would remain holy each day! It's not be a matter of keeping a day holy for God, but to keep ourselves holy each day! Imagine, while we are hoping to go to heaven and be with God, God has come down to dwell in us first, His name is Emmanuel meaning God with us (Mathew1:23). The purpose of God making His abode in us is to fully form His nature and character in us (Galatians4:19). As God has chosen to reside in us, the best place to hear from God is within our hearts not in any physical structure. As you’re looking up to hear from God, He’s speaking continuously within your heart.
It’s a pity when people say they "feel the presence of God” upon entering a building; this is due to lack of understanding and lack of spiritual maturity. We are God’s temple; you should be the carrier of the divine presence of God, wherever you go God’s presence should be present there. It’s not a matter of “feeling it” in one place, if you’re not feeling God’s divine presence until you enter a particular religious building, you have problem! As a true Christian, any where you are God’s presence must be present there (Luke5:17). People religiously say they are the temple of God, and then on Sundays they still point to physical buildings as the house of God. The day you realize that you are God’s throne and the Almighty God is living in the center of your heart is the day you’ll begin to experience true holiness. Instead of looking up or looking at what’s going on in the physical buildings mistakenly called “the house of God” , you’ll begin to look deeply within yourself the true temple of God to see what is going on within your heart and clean up every unclean thing therein. Consider the following scripture…….
And he brought me to the door of the court (of the temple); and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.(Ezek8:7-10)….
The same way God told Ezekiel to dig a hole in the wall of the sanctuary in order to discover every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel hidden inside the sanctuary(Ezek8:7-10) is the same way we should daily dig deep in our lives to discover and cleanse all sin and unclean thoughts hidden in us, for we are God’s present temple. There are still creeping things, abominable beasts and idols secretly residing in us. For instance; creeping things can represent lies, gossiping, envy, jealousy, hatred, etc. Abominable beasts in us can be anger, pride, demons of lust and so forth, while idols can be love of money, education etc. We must continue digging daily in our lives to see and clear out everything that wants to take the place of God in our life for we are God’s true temple.
Blind Guides Know Nothing about Inward Cleansing: Blind religious Christian leaders can only quote bible verses to assure their blind followers about God's promises or material blessings but they have can’t teach them about the inward purification. When they preach about assignments they focus only on evangelism to make their members bring others to their churches so that their empty seats will be occupied. Now that we are God’s spiritual temple and priests, our assignments now involve interior and exterior services. The interior ministry represents our gradual movement from mortality to immortality or the inward journey to perfection, which involves daily purification of our inward man. We are to cleanse ourselves daily by the word of God from sin until we finally conform to the nature and character of Jesus Christ and translate to immortality (2Corinthians7:1),while our external ministry involves going out to preach the gospel and to make disciples for Christ (2Corinthians5:18-20).As God’s temple, inward cleansing is our first assignment…
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity (Mathew 23:25-28).
The Scribes and Pharisees were good bible teachers and preachers who had no revelation of inward purification. They concentrated only on the outward religious activities while their inward man was still full of sin. They believed that washing their physical bodies with water as in baptism, wearing clean expensive religious clothes and converting people to their religion and other outward religious rituals would make them clean. This is exactly what’s wrong with today’s Christianity, we are so consumed with the work of evangelism, going to religious cathedrals on Sundays and fulfilling other religious rituals, that we overlook the inward cleansing or spiritual prosperity of our soul which should be our primary focus. Our soul must prosper before we can be effective and productive in the knowledge of Christ…….
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3John1:2)
This is one scripture used by the human agents of darkness (the blind leaders) to deceive carnal minds, it’s important for us to consider what the writer is telling us spiritually…the Greek word that translates the English word “prosper” is “euodousthai” which means to have a good and safe journey throughout one’s life which indicates that we’re on a constant migration there’s a spiritual journey or a race set before us which is why Peter refers to us Christians as strangers and pilgrims(1Peter2:11). We’re gradually moving out of the sin nature to achieve a complete sinless nature of God, which should be transpiring place daily until our mortal body is completely transformed and clothed with the immortal body. The internal (inward) journey of perfection began the very first day that we gave our lives to Christ, on that blessed day the Spirit of God came into our own spirit (when the bible refers to the Spirit of God it will use capital letter “S” but in reference to our spirit it uses small latter “s” see Romans8:16, 1Cor, 2:11). Our spirit man which is the inner most court, representing Holy of holies was dead to sin until God’s Spirit came into it to give us life again, and when the sin nature in our spirit man was destroyed and our spirit achieved purification (Romans6:6). The second court which is our soul, representing the Holy place must also be renewed…And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans12:2). Our soul, called the outward man is the place that contains our intellect, emotions, and will. Just as we are dressed in clothes, so our inward man “the spirit” wears an outward man “the soul”. Our soul definitely needs to be renewed and purified by receiving the word of the Lord so that we can say like Jesus Christ “Not as I will, but Lord! Let your will be done!” We must learn to deny our natural mind, desires and sentiments for our soul to reflect Jesus Christ the son of God which is what prosperity of the soul entails. To prosper in other words means to "advance," God wants us to advance “prosper” daily towards sinless perfection and immortality in Christ, in this course achieving the prosperity of the soul no sacrifice is too much. We must continue moving forward spiritually and physically defeating every sin until our spirit, soul and body, which now represents the outer court, holy place and holy of holies become completely cleansed and remains blameless (1Thessalonian5:23). It’s important for us to know that our soul will never prosper until we completely cease to fulfill our own desires and live only to do the will of God, Jesus says the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise (John5:19). The mind of Jesus Christ was absolutely conformed to the mind of God, but as for us, most of the time we will find out that there is a war still going on within us. When God speaks in our spirit man and tells us what He wants us to accomplish in His kingdom and gives us direction, our soul will object and want us to do it our own way, achieving perfect oneness with the Father is the true prosperity of the soul (John17:20-23).
For the people of God to gain more spiritual growth, we must walk by faith! We must be prophetic; we must make use of our inner eyes. We Christians must pray and ask God to sharpen our spiritual eyes and ears. This isn’t the time to depend on another person to tell you what the Lord is saying. We must see and hear directly from God ourselves! Our hearts must be to attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, and grow to that point to where we can say like Jesus Christ; the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does (John5:19).We must be aware that no one can attain a greater height in Christ without a revelation, this is why every child of God must be prophetic, it takes a prophetic spirit to overcome Satan and his agents!
