THE TRUTH YOUR PASTOR ISN'T TELLING YOU ABOUT TITHE

Let's begin with the TRUTH ABOUT MALACHI 3:8-10: Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:8-10).

Most pastors will never tell you that the above message wasn't directed to all of the Israelites, or the whole congregation. The instructions that God gave to Moses as recorded in “Numbers 18:20-32” helps us to understand that it wasn’t the responsibility of all Israelites to bring their tithe into the storehouse of God; the people were commanded to not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die. But the Levites were to perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting. All Israelites were only commanded to give their tithes to the Levites in the cities where they lived. Then it was the Levites’ responsibility to bring the “tithe of the tithes” (Nehemiah 10:38) to the temple for the support of the priests and those Levites, who assisted the priest in the temple including musicians and gatekeepers (Nehemiah13:5).

(2). TRUTH ABOUT THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF PRIESTHOOD: The priesthood system in the period of Law was known as the Levitical priesthood, which began with the tribe of Levi and proceeded through the sons of the family of Aaron (Num18). Apart from people from the lineage of Levi, persons of other tribes weren't permitted to serve as priests. In the Old Testament tabernacle and Solomon’s temple, there were courts restricted only for the priests; the entrance to the outer court was free to all, including the Gentiles, but the Gentiles weren't allowed any further into the temple and women during their time of menstruation weren't allowed to enter. The High Priest alone could go into the Holy of Holies (behind the curtain) only once a year on the Day of Atonement when he made a sin offering on behalf of all of the people. It was under this order that JEHOVAH gave the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they did while serving at the tent of meeting. (Numbers 18:21-32)

Now, according to the word of the Lord, the law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming- not the realities themselves (Heb10:1-5). The reality is Christ (Colossians 2:15-7). In this present Era (Grace and Truth), the priesthood order has changed, at the time that Christ died on the cross, the temple curtain that covered the entrance to the Holy of Holies was torn in two by the supernatural mighty hand of the Lord (Matthew 27:51). In this, God was telling us that the Leviticus priesthood order was no longer necessary, believers could come directly to Him through the blood of Christ who is our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16). We can go into the Holy of Holies which is now spiritual, only through the help of the Holy Spirit (Heb 10:19).There should be no earthly mediators between God and man as existed in the Old Covenant, the dispensation of grace has come with a system of priesthood known as the Melchesedec priesthood order. Jesus Christ Our Lord was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek (Heb5:10). In the Melchesedec priesthood system, every born again child of god is divinely an ordained priest (1peter2:9, john 15:16), while Christ remains the only high priest and the bishop of our soul (Heb 6:20). LET OUR FOCUS BE ON CHRIST ALONE NOT ON PREACHERS!

* MOSAIC LAW:
And, behold, I have given to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the tent of meeting. (Num18:21)

* FROM THE WRITER OF HEBREWS: Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? FOR THE PRIESTHOOD BEING CHANGED, OF NECESSITY THERE IS ALSO A CHANGE OF THE LAW. (Heb 7:11-12)

Perfection isn't obtainable through the Levitical system of priesthood which is why God called for a new order (Heb 8:7-13). Now, since there is a change in priesthood, the law of tithing also has to change; TITHING IS NOT MANDATORY (is not a Law) Christians are to give according to their personal revelation, or as the spirit leads (2Cor 9:7, Romans8:14). Everything we own belongs to God, for Christ says,( ALL [THINGS THAT ARE] MINE ARE YOURS, AND ALL [THINGS THAT ARE] YOURS BELONG TO ME(John17:10).What Christ says in John17:10 is the standard of giving for every true disciple(Whatever you own belongs to God). Offerings collected in the church should benefit every member of the Church, especially the poor, not just the pastor….

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God's grace was so powerfully at work in them all that THERE WERE NO NEEDY PERSONS AMONG THEM. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need (Acts 4:32-35).

(3). TRUTH ABOUT THE STORE HOUSE: During the exodus, the children of Israel used mobile tents for meetings, but in the process of time the Israelites left the system of pitching mobile tabernacles and built a permanent temple in Jerusalem. In the temple, there was a place called the storehouse, which was a room, a chamber called “azure” (the "treasure" house) where the tithe was to be kept (Nehemiah13:5-12).But in this era of GRACE, Christ introduced a new and accurate way in God’s service, different from Judaism; everything now is spiritual and is why scripture teaches that we must worship God in spirit and in truth. We are to obey the eternal law which is written inside of our hearts, not in a book (Hebrews8:7-12). The temple has changed. The destruction of the physical temple in Jerusalem was a sign that the era of temple worship is over which is why God allowed the Romans to demolish it in 70 AD. God’s temple is now with men.(Rev,21:3).

We are now the spiritual temple of God, the outer court, Holy place and the Holy of Holies of the Old Testament tabernacle represents our spirit, soul and body. God has chosen to dwell in our hearts through the Holy Spirit (1Cor 3:16-17). Since God has abolished the system of temple worship, the true worshippers are to worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father looks for such to worship him (John4:23-24). All of the cleansing rituals that were going on inside of the Old Testament temple should be going on in our hearts every day, in other words, we are to cleanse ourselves from sin everyday by the word of God to achieve total holiness in Christ (Ephesians5:26-27,2Corinthians7:1).

You don’t need to be REGISTERED with any Christian denominational group or to attend Christian religious cathedrals each Sunday to be a Christian. We are to manifest Christ wherever we are! We are free to meet in various homes, etc to share real spiritual fellowship in truth, without anyone rising up among us to claim that the fellowship or church belongs to him.

It’s a pity most pastors will never tell their congregation that there is no longer a place in this present dispensation of Grace physically called the storehouse. The spiritual treasure house of God is our heart, where God’s holy words (meats) should be stored!

(4). YOU ARE NOT UNDER A CURSE IF YOU DON'T PAY TITHES: When most “preachers” want to justify their weaknesses they'll recite Romans10:4 and other related scriptures to support their claim that Christians are no longer under the law, however; when it comes to collecting their tithes, they’ll quote Malachi 3:8-10, which was given to people under the law (Numbers18). Some laws were specifically given to the Jews, not the Gentiles. It's recorded in the scriptures that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God (Romans3:19). During the era of Law, the Gentiles were governed mainly by their conscience (Romans2:13-15), while the Law was given to the Jewish people as their schoolmaster to bring them unto Christ, that all might be justified by faith (Galatians3:24-25). Presently the Christians are to obey the Noachide laws, not all the Mosaic Laws (Act15). Concerning the curse of the Law, this is what Paul says, Christ hath REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW, BEING MADE A CURSE FOR US: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Gal, 3:13-14) (Romans8:28-35).

According to scripture, the blessings of Abraham is beyond material stuff (Act2:38-39,3:26). Paul wrote, the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians3:14). Christ the Messiah was the promise seed (Genesis3:15) not cattle, gold, silver etc. It's recorded in the book of Hebrews that Abraham’s life was completely focused on perfection and immortality of the total man, which can only be obtained through Christ… (By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.(Hebrews11).

The spiritual city that Abraham saw was the heavenly Jerusalem, which is the immortalized assembly of the saints in God’s dwelling place; Abraham and his wife Sarah considered themselves as pilgrims, because they were spiritually hoping to be translated; to be clothed with an immortal tabernacle and to appear before the Lord without sin(2Cor 5:1-8). Abraham saw the days of Jesus Christ and lived by the principle of grace, which is according to the righteousness by faith, Jesus says, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad (John 8:56). Abraham also partook in eating the body and drinking the blood of Jesus Christ; it is written that Melchesedec offered him bread and wine (Gen14:18). Abraham saw the days of Christ through divine revelation.

If the Christian preachers insist that people must pay their tithe according to the Law, they must also compel the people to obey the entire laws of the Old Testament; for James said, for whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it (James2:10). Paul states, for all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law” (Gala3:10).This means that you can't choose to obey only one law that favors you monetarily and then leave the rest undone.

(5): TRUTH ABOUT THE PRESENT ORDER OF SERVICE: Since the temple has changed; WE are now the new temple of God, and the order of service has to change. There was no president or founder of the church among the Christians in the 1st century; believers were all considered priests and Christ was their high priest. There was no assistant pastor or general overseer; the believers were all co-workers with Christ however, there was still order and eldership in the local Church, the younger believers recognized the authority of the apostles, not as demi-gods but as humble and faithful brothers in the Lord (1Peter2:9). The “one-man show” type of leadership that we’re witnessing in the structural church comes from the antichrist. Every child of God is a minister (2Cori 3:6-7). True service isn't a matter of gathering together on a particular day to watch preachers, but cleansing ourselves from sin daily and to make disciples of all nations (Mat 28:18-20, 2Cor 5:18-20).

~And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God (2Cor 5:18-20). ~

The ministry of reconciliation involves leaving our religious temples, to go where the sinners are, preaching and teaching them the word of God and making them disciples for Christ (Mark16:15). Christ didn't sit in the temple and send his disciples to go distribute handbills and invitations for people to come hear him preach. Instead, Christ traveled around interior villages, cities and towns to meet the sinners in their home (Mathew9:35). It’s a pity that many believers have been deceived by Satan and don’t know the real meaning of service, even the pastors and bishops in the Pentecostal congregations have limited service to mean Sunday and mid-week meetings.

Oftentimes one can hear blind pastors boasting that they were “having one service before but now they're having 3 services” on Sunday. What blindness! Church service isn't coming together on Sundays or weekdays. The word service has the notion of ministry, and the ministry given to the church is beyond gathering under a preacher to hear sermons, singing, praying and giving monetary offerings; true external service is to reconcile sinners back to God. If the structural church were operating properly, sinners wouldn’t be found inside of it, but only in the world; therefore, we should go wherever the sinners are and minister to them in order to win them back to God that is true “church service”. North Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia even the United States needs the TRUE GOSPEL, and as Christians, we should go there and service. Any Christian assembly boasting of having many services on Sunday isn't making progress; a successful local church is a church where people are discipled and released into their individual assignments. Effective local assemblies should function similar to patrol stations where motor vehicles go to refueled.

  1. Following your reasoning, do we have to do away with the 10 commandments too?

    1. @Obot, This is where we Christians are getting things confused. What the majority of Christians recognize as the Law in the bible is the “Ten Commandants” which refers to the words that God wrote on the two stone tablets that Moses brought down from Mount Sinai (Exodus 31:18, Exodus 20). In the original Hebrew Tanakh “the Hebrew Bible”, what we Christians call “Ten Commandments” is called “Aseret ha-D'vareem” meaning the Ten Things, and in rabbinical texts they are called “Aseret ha-Dibrot” which interpreted means “the Ten Sayings or Utterances”. Jewish tradition teaches that the Ten Sayings are the ideological basis for the six hundred and thirteen “613” mitzvoth which means commandments in Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament. And the Jewish people believed that all six hundred and thirteen commandments that God gave to them are equally treated as the word of God; there are equally holy and equally obligatory. In other words, if you are keeping the law, you are obligated to obey the six hundred and thirteen laws not just the Ten Commandments as we Christians call it… For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it (James2:10). For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law” (Galatians3:10). All the Law was specifically given to the Jews not the gentiles, for the scripture teach that…Whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God (Romans3:19)

The scripture teach us that “law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John1:17),the period of grace also called the church age or the time of the Gentiles, started from the crucifixion and will end at the second physical coming of Jesus Christ (Romans11:25). As the Israelites were governed mainly by the written mosaic laws, their conscience, and the promise that God made to their Petrarch Abraham; the Christians are governed mainly by the Holy Spirit of God. In the Old Testament, the spirit was coming upon the people and not dwelling permanently in them; however, is this era of grace every believer in Christ has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which is why the scripture teaches that For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Romans8:14). Christians should obey the eternal law of Christ through help of the Holy-Spirit. In this era of grace, Jesus Christ introduced a total new and accurate way in God’s service different from Judaism; everything now is spiritual, that is why the scripture teaches that we must worship God in spirit and in truth. We are to obey the eternal law which is written inside of our hearts, not in a book (Hebrews8:7-12)…But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter (Romans7:6).

Under this new covenant, Jesus Christ has summarized all of the laws into one and calls it a new commandment…

A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another(John13:34-35).

We can be known as Jesus’ true disciples only if we love other’s the same way Christ loves us (1John3:15-16). The question now is not what day did you observe the Sabbath, but are you manifesting the unconditional love and compassion of Jesus Christ towards the people who don’t believe in what you believe?
